How the score works
The score is out of 20. Each check passes or needs work. If we couldn't run a check (for example, Google's speed test didn't answer, or the page is built entirely by JavaScript), it counts as not passed, and the report says why. Extra notes at the end, such as sideways scrolling on a small phone, aren't scored.
What we check, and why
Speed numbers come from Google PageSpeed Insights, using Google's published "good" marks. The rest come from Google Search Central, the W3C accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.2), and usability research from Nielsen Norman Group and Baymard Institute. Two thresholds are our own rule of thumb and are labelled that way: a contact form with 5 or fewer required fields, and a domain with more than 60 days before it expires.
